Thursday's Thoughts- Faith Part One

What is Faith? The dictionary defines faith as the complete trust and confidence in someone or something. Barbara Johnson described it as seeing light with your heart when all your eyes see is darkness.
George Muller knew just how important faith is. He ran numerous orphanages on the faith that God would provide for them.
Hebrews 11:1 tells that our faith should be unconditional. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Most people find it hard to believe in a God they can't see. Can you see air? No, you cannot but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
Faith is so powerful that it can move mountains. Here's a funny story. One Sunday when I was maybe six or so, the pastor at church preached about faith. He quoted Mark 11:23, "For verily I say unto you, whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart; but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."
Now, this doesn't necessarily mean that you can move a mountain with just your words, but to my six year old brain it did. On our way home, I looked at a mountain and said, "Be removed and cast into the sea." I genuinely believed that it would happen and you want to know something funny? They are currently moving gravel and dirt from that hill to use elsewhere and someday it might wash into the sea.
What this verse really means is through faith you can do anything. The spiritual mountains in our life don't stand a chance when we have faith that God will move said mountains. George Muller said it best.
Next week we will continue our study on Faith. Until then, have a blessed week.

Winter Wonderland

This past weekend the weather decided it was about time that Arkansas had some snow. When it snows there's only one thing to do, go outside and take pictures! What you got there? I'd like some range cubes please. Make sure you get my good side. Oh yeah, there you go. Now, where is my food? Mom and Jacob think this looks like Mater from Cars. My baby is getting special treatment in the form of her own bucket of range cubes. Little Caffie is hunkered down and trying to stay warm. I'm not sure she likes this weather anymore than I do. My boy looks so pretty in the snow. You got that food yet? I'm STARVING. I love trees with snow on them. The world is white And at the end of a long cold day I get some Daisy snuggles. They are the best when it's cold outside. She is forever my baby. Snow is not my favorite because it's cold and it makes chores harder to do, but everything does look prettier.

Mix in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, salt and vanilla.  Pour into pan and refrigerate for 15 minutes or until hard. Remove from fridge and enjoy! It's that easy!

Thursday's Thoughts- Would You Stand?

Would You Stand? I have a very important question for you. Would you stand? This sounds like a simple inquiry, but it just may prove to be one of the most difficult ones you will ever be asked. What if you are sitting in church Sunday morning and suddenly masked men burst through the door holding rifles? Imagine that the leader announces that anyone who doesn't deny Christ will be shot. Maybe half the church chooses to denounce God and leave, but will you? Will the threat of death turn you away from your faith? Let me tell you about three men in the Bible who let absolutely nothing get in the way of their faith.  Travel back to the Old Testament with me and see a man who set his faith in God. His name was Noah. God told Noah to build an ark because He was going to send rain to flood the whole earth. Any other man would have laughed because, up until that time, it had never rained before, but Noah and his sons got right to work. For years they labored while their friends and ne
