Thursday's Thoughts- 1 John Chapter Four

1 John Chapter Four 1-6. False prophets will be everywhere in the last days, but how will we know that they are false? If we know Jesus and read his Word every day, we will be so close to Him that we can easily identify false prophets because they will not follow God's word. They will say and do questionable things that contrast with the Bible.  7-21. 1 John talks more about love than any other book in the New Testament. Why is this? Because God loves us, and we are to love others with His love. Through love, we can bring the world to Christ. Loving Christ is the same as knowing Him and those who do not love Christ might as well not know Him. We know that God loves us because he sent his only son to die for us so that we can live with Him forever. If God loved us enough to sacrifice his son for us, we ought to be willing to sacrifice our time to show the world that love. Our love for God will result in our dwelling with Him in eternity. Because we know that God loves us and wi

Thursday's Thoughts- 1 John Chapter Three

1 John Chapter Three 1-3. The third chapter of 1 John starts with one of my favorite Bible verses. "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not." 1 John 3:1. How incredible  is it that God loves us so much that He calls us his children? Like our parents, He looks past all the mistakes we've made, and the times we disobeyed, and still loves us as only He can. Because we are the sons and daughters of God, when He comes to get us, we will be like Him and see Him as He is- the almighty Creator.  4-10. We are all sinners, but God came to take away our sins. When we abide in God, we will not sin anymore. He that commits sin is of the devil who sinned from the beginning. When we are reborn in Christ our sinful nature goes away and we desire to be like God.  11-14. Because we have the love of God, the world will despise us. Like Abel, we will find accepta

What to do if Your Chicken is Setting

What to do if Your Chicken is Setting Sometimes, setting chickens is not a good thing. Setting can lead to starvation and dehydration and, eventually, death. Do not fret because there is an easy, proven way to break this habit. Here's what you'll need: 1. A separate pen, crate, etc. We use an old 300 gallon water trough. It just needs to be able to keep your chicken in and predators out. 2. Feed and water containers. If your hen has been setting for very long she will eat and drink a lot the first few days so check her food and water regularly. Remove your hen from the rest of the flock and place her in your chosen location. Check her throughout the day. How long you leave her is up to you, but I recommend 7 days. If she is still setting, try again for a longer amount of time. We have seen an 100% success rate with this method in our flock.

Thursday's Thoughts- 1 John Chapter 2

1 John Chapter 2 It's time to dive into the second chapter of 1 John so I hope you brought your Bible. If you haven't read the chapter one devotional I highly suggest you read it first and come back to this one. If you're ready to get started on chapter two just keep reading! 1-15. The theme of sin and redemption has been carried from chapter one into chapter two. Verses 1-15 tell us that Jesus is our advocate to the Father. This basically means that we are a convict, Jesus is our attorney and God is the judge. Like the convict, we have been rightly accused of sinning. Our defense attorney, Jesus, presents our case to God and pleads with him for a lighter sentence than hell's fire. Being a merciful judge, God forgives us of all the charges and allows us to join Him in Heaven. Also like a repentant convict, we should then strive to keep God's commandments, and thus the love of God will be perfected in us. If we do not keep his commandments, we are liars.   15-

Thursday's Thoughts- 1 John Chapter One

1 John Chapter One Hey guys, grab your Bibles and turn to 1 John. Over the next five posts we will be going through the book of 1 John. As we dive into the first chapter of the book, John immediately establishes that God's Word is eternal in verses 1-2. It was there from the beginning and it is still here today. Sound familiar? That's because he also talks about it in the gospel of John. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God." John 1:1-2. Have you ever heard people say that they are hardcore Christians and then say or do things that makes you seriously question their claims? 1 John talks about them too, in verses 5-7. God is light so how can we do dark things and walk in His light? So, if we say we have fellowship with Him, but walk in darkness, we are hypocrites. On the other hand, if we walk in the light, we have fellowship with both God and our fellow believers. "If we say
