Thursday's Thoughts- The Writing on the Wall

For this blog we're throwing it back to about sixth grade when I wrote my first Bible short story. What you are about to read is 100% real. The only thing that has been changed is spelling errors. This is the story that got me interested in writing popular Bible stories from a different perspective. It has been written from the perspective of a guest at the king's feast.
For the whole story check out Daniel 5.

"Thank you for coming to the feast," says King Belshazzer.
"Long live the king!" everyone yells.
"Behold the cups of the temple of Jerusalem," he holds up a golden cup, "Eat, drink and be merry my friends."
"To King Belshazzar," a woman says.
We all lift our cups and drink. Suddenly, a woman screams. I whirl around and nearly faint. A single finger lingers in front of the wall. Then, I see the writing on the wall.
"What is the meaning of this?" asks the king, "Get my wise men and advisors."
But none of them can tell him what it means.
Then, a man speaks, "I know a man named Daniel who can tell you the meaning."
"Bring him to me," Belshazzar orders.
Some guards bring Daniel in and he stands boldly before the king, "Sir, I have spoken with God and can tell you the meaning."
"Well, get on with it."

"The Writing says, 'Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin and the meaning is this. Mene, God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. Tekel, thou art weighed in the balances and found wanting. Peres, thy kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and the Persians."
When he finished, King Belshazzar gives him a scarlet robe and golden chain, "This young man shall be the third ruler of my kingdom."
I wake up the next morning to people mourning. When I go outside, I find that the Medes and Persians have taken over and Belshazzar has been killed.

I hope you enjoyed this story. What would have been your reaction if you'd been there? Let me know. God bless.

Winter Wonderland

This past weekend the weather decided it was about time that Arkansas had some snow. When it snows there's only one thing to do, go outside and take pictures! What you got there? I'd like some range cubes please. Make sure you get my good side. Oh yeah, there you go. Now, where is my food? Mom and Jacob think this looks like Mater from Cars. My baby is getting special treatment in the form of her own bucket of range cubes. Little Caffie is hunkered down and trying to stay warm. I'm not sure she likes this weather anymore than I do. My boy looks so pretty in the snow. You got that food yet? I'm STARVING. I love trees with snow on them. The world is white And at the end of a long cold day I get some Daisy snuggles. They are the best when it's cold outside. She is forever my baby. Snow is not my favorite because it's cold and it makes chores harder to do, but everything does look prettier.

Thursday's Thoughts- Job

Let's take some time today to observe a man that represents what we should act like as Christians. His name is Job and you can read his full story in the Old Testament but I'll give you a brief overview. The book of Job opens up to a scene from God's court. The sons of God had come to present themselves and among them was Satan. God couldn't help but boast about his number one servant Job. Satan laughed and pointed out that, like all men, Job would only love God as long as his life was good. Does this sound like a challenge to you because it did to God. He promptly gave Satan permission to do whatever he wished to Job as long as he did not harm him. Job was considered rich in those days because he had livestock. In Job 1:13-19, Satan strikes and Job loses everything including all of his animals and children. The only things left in his world were his house and his wife, yet he didn't respond the way most people would. In fact, his response is truly baffling but...
