Three Tips for Taming a Cow

Three Tips for Taming a Cow

Taming an animal is the second step of the show process and easily one of the hardest. Remember that they were born with a natural fear of people. To make your life easier, here are my tips. Disclaimer: I will be using cows as an example because they ate my specialty but these apply to all animals.
  1. Establish that you are not the enemy. What I mean is, start by just feeding them and walking away. Let them know that you are their source of food and have no intention of hurting them. As you progress, you can gradually get closer and closer while they eat until they let you pet them.
  2. Be patient. It took me 4 weeks to tame Daisy and I spent 4 hours a day in the pen with her. Like everything else this step takes time.
  3. Continue to earn their trust even after they are tame. Taming them isn't the end of it, because they may trust you enough to let you touch them, but they need a while longer to develop enough trust and respect to obey you.
I hope these tips help you . Go tame a herd!

Winter Wonderland

This past weekend the weather decided it was about time that Arkansas had some snow. When it snows there's only one thing to do, go outside and take pictures! What you got there? I'd like some range cubes please. Make sure you get my good side. Oh yeah, there you go. Now, where is my food? Mom and Jacob think this looks like Mater from Cars. My baby is getting special treatment in the form of her own bucket of range cubes. Little Caffie is hunkered down and trying to stay warm. I'm not sure she likes this weather anymore than I do. My boy looks so pretty in the snow. You got that food yet? I'm STARVING. I love trees with snow on them. The world is white And at the end of a long cold day I get some Daisy snuggles. They are the best when it's cold outside. She is forever my baby. Snow is not my favorite because it's cold and it makes chores harder to do, but everything does look prettier.

Thursday's Thoughts- Job

Let's take some time today to observe a man that represents what we should act like as Christians. His name is Job and you can read his full story in the Old Testament but I'll give you a brief overview. The book of Job opens up to a scene from God's court. The sons of God had come to present themselves and among them was Satan. God couldn't help but boast about his number one servant Job. Satan laughed and pointed out that, like all men, Job would only love God as long as his life was good. Does this sound like a challenge to you because it did to God. He promptly gave Satan permission to do whatever he wished to Job as long as he did not harm him. Job was considered rich in those days because he had livestock. In Job 1:13-19, Satan strikes and Job loses everything including all of his animals and children. The only things left in his world were his house and his wife, yet he didn't respond the way most people would. In fact, his response is truly baffling but...
