Thursday's Thoughts- The Storms of Life

The Storms of Life

The storms of life always come out of no where.
A friend and I went on a trail ride recently. We saddled the horses and checked the weather to make sure it wouldn't rain. The radar said that there was a slight chance we would catch the corner of a passing storm but not likely. With that, we were on our way.
Thirty minutes into the ride it started raining fairly hard and we looked at the radar again. This time it said that we had walked right into the middle of a bad storm. Within five minutes it was storming so bad that we were soaked and the horses could barely see. It got bad enough that we had to get off and lead them. We got to shelter and unsaddled before heading inside to change. It took four hours for that storm to blow over.
Life's storms often times blow up out of nowhere. They come on strong and leave you searching for shelter. Just like the cow shed and house provided shelter for us and the horses, God is our shelter in storms. We run to his loving arms and he protects us until the storm passes and the sun begins to shine.

Dear Lord,
Surround me in your loving, protective arms and carry me safely through the storm. In your name, Amen.

Winter Wonderland

This past weekend the weather decided it was about time that Arkansas had some snow. When it snows there's only one thing to do, go outside and take pictures! What you got there? I'd like some range cubes please. Make sure you get my good side. Oh yeah, there you go. Now, where is my food? Mom and Jacob think this looks like Mater from Cars. My baby is getting special treatment in the form of her own bucket of range cubes. Little Caffie is hunkered down and trying to stay warm. I'm not sure she likes this weather anymore than I do. My boy looks so pretty in the snow. You got that food yet? I'm STARVING. I love trees with snow on them. The world is white And at the end of a long cold day I get some Daisy snuggles. They are the best when it's cold outside. She is forever my baby. Snow is not my favorite because it's cold and it makes chores harder to do, but everything does look prettier.

Homemade Chocolate

Everyone loves chocolate but why go to the store every time you want some? This recipe is quick and easy.  You will need: 1 cup Coconut Oil 1 cup Cocoa Powder 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar 1/4 teaspoon Salt 1 teaspoon Vanilla Melt coconut oil in the microwave. Mix in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, salt and vanilla.  Pour into pan and refrigerate for 15 minutes or until hard. Remove from fridge and enjoy! It's that easy!

Thursday's Thoughts- Job

Let's take some time today to observe a man that represents what we should act like as Christians. His name is Job and you can read his full story in the Old Testament but I'll give you a brief overview. The book of Job opens up to a scene from God's court. The sons of God had come to present themselves and among them was Satan. God couldn't help but boast about his number one servant Job. Satan laughed and pointed out that, like all men, Job would only love God as long as his life was good. Does this sound like a challenge to you because it did to God. He promptly gave Satan permission to do whatever he wished to Job as long as he did not harm him. Job was considered rich in those days because he had livestock. In Job 1:13-19, Satan strikes and Job loses everything including all of his animals and children. The only things left in his world were his house and his wife, yet he didn't respond the way most people would. In fact, his response is truly baffling but...
