Thursday's Thoughts- 1 John Chapter 2

1 John Chapter 2

It's time to dive into the second chapter of 1 John so I hope you brought your Bible. If you haven't read the chapter one devotional I highly suggest you read it first and come back to this one. If you're ready to get started on chapter two just keep reading!
1-15. The theme of sin and redemption has been carried from chapter one into chapter two. Verses 1-15 tell us that Jesus is our advocate to the Father. This basically means that we are a convict, Jesus is our attorney and God is the judge. Like the convict, we have been rightly accused of sinning. Our defense attorney, Jesus, presents our case to God and pleads with him for a lighter sentence than hell's fire. Being a merciful judge, God forgives us of all the charges and allows us to join Him in Heaven. Also like a repentant convict, we should then strive to keep God's commandments, and thus the love of God will be perfected in us. If we do not keep his commandments, we are liars.
15-17. If we love the world we cannot love God. The love of the world will be temporary because, well, the world is temporary. In the end, it'll all be gone and we'll be left loveless. On the other hand, God, and our love for him is eternal. If we love God on earth, we will love him forever on the new earth.
18-29. Verses 18-22 warn us of the Antichrist, who will come in the last days. Beginning in 23 we jump back into a conversation about true believers. They are not liars, and they don't deny Christ. God promises His children eternal life if they abide in Him until He comes back.

Winter Wonderland

This past weekend the weather decided it was about time that Arkansas had some snow. When it snows there's only one thing to do, go outside and take pictures! What you got there? I'd like some range cubes please. Make sure you get my good side. Oh yeah, there you go. Now, where is my food? Mom and Jacob think this looks like Mater from Cars. My baby is getting special treatment in the form of her own bucket of range cubes. Little Caffie is hunkered down and trying to stay warm. I'm not sure she likes this weather anymore than I do. My boy looks so pretty in the snow. You got that food yet? I'm STARVING. I love trees with snow on them. The world is white And at the end of a long cold day I get some Daisy snuggles. They are the best when it's cold outside. She is forever my baby. Snow is not my favorite because it's cold and it makes chores harder to do, but everything does look prettier.

Thursday's Thoughts- Would You Stand?

Would You Stand? I have a very important question for you. Would you stand? This sounds like a simple inquiry, but it just may prove to be one of the most difficult ones you will ever be asked. What if you are sitting in church Sunday morning and suddenly masked men burst through the door holding rifles? Imagine that the leader announces that anyone who doesn't deny Christ will be shot. Maybe half the church chooses to denounce God and leave, but will you? Will the threat of death turn you away from your faith? Let me tell you about three men in the Bible who let absolutely nothing get in the way of their faith.  Travel back to the Old Testament with me and see a man who set his faith in God. His name was Noah. God told Noah to build an ark because He was going to send rain to flood the whole earth. Any other man would have laughed because, up until that time, it had never rained before, but Noah and his sons got right to work. For years they labored while their friends and ne
